Mystery History

Where are we? And what's happening?

The first person to guess correctly will win lunch with me -- I'll buy yours and you'll buy mine.

Remember, leave your brief guess as a comment on this blog but don't try to give the entire back story (that's my job).

I'll have the full scoop on Thursday.

  1. Well, there was a Thrifty on Colorado down close to City Hall, right? So it could be an anti-littering ad campaign that was shot on Colorado...

    ...just a guess.

  2. Thrifty Drug was located at 355 East Colorado, which was fairly close to the Post Office, as I recall. It looks like there are a couple of traffic cones in the photo, and the man in the white suit looks like he might be part of the Rose Parade staff, so maybe it is part of a public service announcement not to litter during the parade??

  3. Wasn't there another Thrifty on Colorado, just east of Lake? Or, am I misremembering? :)

  4. Thriftys...one was over in east Pasadena - near Sears - maybe where Whole Foods is now.

Pasadena gave the go ahead to have trash receptacles installed in it's shopping districts. A Star news reporter posed as a litter bug while his photographer took the shot.
