  3. Here's a wild guess...could that be Desi Arnaz in the white suit wearing a jaunty hat and holding a nosegay for Lucy at the Santa Fe train station?

    1. It's got to be a debonair Hollywood star in the 40s...maybe Charles Boyer?

    2. OK, this is my final answer, prompted by Cafe Pasadena's post. Could it be Robert Preston, who studied acting at The Pasadena Playhouse in the late 1930s before hitting the big time?

  4. Wonder Wanda - your on to something. I remember hopping aboard the South West Chief from this station, on my way to Chicago. Late 80's. The station was in it's decline; cracked and aging - on the chopping block.

    1. Bellis, what we call the "lazy s" Pasadena sign was installed at the station in the late 1920s. About 15 years ago we began incorporating it into some marketing materials for Pasadena.

  6. Diana Britt had trouble posting her comment, so I'm posting it for her:

"I think it looks more like Gig Young than Desi Arnaz; a lot of Hollywood stars got off the train at the Santa Fe station on S. Raymond to avoid the paparazzi at Union Station."
