Mystery History

Where are we? And what's happening?

The first person to guess correctly will win a fabulous prize: a virtual gold star in perpetuity!

I'll have the full scoop on Thursday. And remember, leave your guess as a comment but don't tell the whole back story (that's my job).

  1. OK, I'll take a leap: two JPL or Caltech astronomers observing the refraction of light on the Hale Telescope (or some iteration of it), perhaps at the Mt. Wilson Observatory?

  2. Is the Mount Wilson Observatory considered Pasadena? I think of out as such but maybe not. Is JPL in Pasadena or La Canada? The crown city has some murky boarders.

I'm going to guess that this is somewhere under the Department of Water and Power building on Fair Oaks. The one with the fountain out front. Some kind of drain pipe. Or it's an air tunnel related to CalTech

  3. Pasadena Adjacent, your guesses are certainly more intriguing than mine ;-) Another possibility could be a telescope in the observatory at PCC.

  4. It's the wind tunnel for testing aircraft in the Guggenheim Building at Caltech.

  5. I thought it was something out of Fantastic Voyage, but I make it a policy to never bet against Bellis.
